After years of working tirelessly for others, in an industry that too often puts profit over people, founder Ali Mhanna had seen enough of the glaring issues that plagued and held the industry back for far too long, shady workmanship, unfair treatment of clients, and appalling neglect of workers’ rights. Ali himself experienced these struggles firsthand. He endured years of unsafe work conditions, unpaid super, unpaid overtime, denied sick leave, denied annual leave, and relentless heartless physical demands that luckily didn’t end in permanent injuries such as hernias and spinal damage, like a lot of other fellow tradies. These injustices are becoming widespread nowadays in the construction industry, and they don’t just affect workers, they ripple out to clients and communities. Instead of walking away, Ali chose to fight back, for the clients, workers, and families who deserve better. Gentle Paving refuses to accept the current state as the norm. We believe Australians deserve better. Better service, better standards, and a better future for their families.

Ali is building Gentle Paving to be something extraordinary: a company that prioritizes people, works ethically, and embodies fairness and integrity. From his expertise in Biotechnology gained from studying at the University of Technology Sydney, and his professional qualification in Paving, he set out to merge two seemingly distinct worlds: The precision and professionalism of the scientific field with the hands-on expertise of the trades industry.
